He's here!!! Baby Landon Douglas Brimhall was gently encouraged to leave the comfort of his mama's tummy today!
Before we get to that though, we'll tell you the story. We arrived at the hospital this morning at 6:45 a.m. to check in and do all of the paperwork. By 7:00 we were in the room and I got all ready for the bed and the I.V. By 7:30 I was put on Pitocin. At around 8:00 Dr. Nance came and broke my water (which, by the way, is not as pleasant an experience as I thought it might be--you know, because you're just all wet and kind of have to just leave it). At that point I still hadn't had an epidural, so I began to really feel the contractions and wished the anesthesiologist was around. By the time he finally came he was my favorite person, and there really wasn't a more pleasant feeling than my legs going numb one after the other, along with the fading of the contractions. I fell asleep pretty quickly after that, and I was asleep (off and on) for about three hours! (We watched the BYU game on TV along with Dr. Nance when he came in to check on my progress.)
After a few nice cat naps I woke up really nausiated. Dr Nance checked me again and said I was completely dialated, and the nurse said I was nausiated because I had progressed from a 5 to completion in 20 min. By 1:20 I was ready to push, and two pushes later--a really cone-headed Landon was born at 1:29 PM! The cord was wrapped around his neck, just like Collin, but he was fine after a minute of crying.
Compared to Collin, he is a bruiser! (Especially considering the fact that he was born at 39 weeks!) He is definitely more chubby than Collin was, and he's figured out a little bit of the nursing gig right off the bat! He has a cute little mellow cry too.
He was 8 lbs 5 oz, and he is 21 inches long! He was clear to mama that he definately needed more room to work with!
Grandma King brought Collin to visit, and he seems ok with having Landon around (but that is only based on the 2-minute attention span he gave to actually looking at him--we'll see how things progress this week). He'll probably think the rug is being pulled out from under him in the next few days though. Chase is kicking himself because he forgot to take pictures when Collin first saw Landon. We'll get a few in the next few days though!
