Car's

So we made our last payment on our car Friday. So what did I do today? Look online for a new car :) Chase and I are planning our trip down to Snowflake for Thanksgiving and are worried about having enough room for everything. It was tight enough when it was just the two of us (it doesn't help that Chase has to bring a pair of shoes for each day we are there....) and now that we have Collin I keep thinking "I can't go a week without his high chair!" or "he needs 4 outfits for each day!" :) Plus this trip we are giving a ride to Chase's cousin, which I am really happy to do (I was telling Chase the other day that I feel like so often I'm just living, I'm not doing anything to help anyone else, or to better my life or anyone else's. So I'm really glad to have this chance to think about someone other then me.) so we will need to fit her suitcase in. Also, we have to bring presents down for Christmas for the family members we have and take presents back home with us. SO. I decided that someday, probably in the next year or so, we need a car with more trunk space. We're hoping to get a small SUV, but something will good gas mileage since we will be traveling with it so much. But I still have my problem with this trip and fitting everything in. But I'm sure it will all work out, even if we have to strap Collin's high chair to the roof!

This is the car I want, but its kind of expensive

I don't have any idea how much room this car actually has but it gets good gas mileage, and Chase really likes how it looks...

Go with the Rav4. Hybrids are a waste of money. They cost twice as much, and realistically a hybrid SUV is only going to get a few miles per gallon better than another small SUV, which in the very, very long run might save you a little bit of money, but it will take a very, very long time for you to see that, and that's only if the car lasts you long enough. Last I checked Ford Escape Hybrids were around $30k used, and you can get a used non-hybrid SUV for under $10k if you shop around -- the monthly payment is a difference of $400/month or $150/month. The hybrid will save you about $20 bucks on gas (maybe), but I don't think its worth it, especially because they haven't been around very long and don't have a track record for longevity. That's my two cents. Have fun car shopping.

Sorry to go off on your blog, but I just want to say having an SUV is so much fun. It makes you feel tough on the road, they are just exciting to drive, and they are so safe. I had an Explorer a few years ago and I miss the thing like crazy. It was a gas guzzler for sure, but I could put anything in it, I could go anywhere, and it was so sweet-looking! Unfortunately I wrecked it in Provo Canyon (rolled the thing three times -- ended up on its side and I had to crawl out the sunroof, fun story, I'll tell it all to you someday), but it saved my life. If you end up getting one you will never (willingly) go back.

Car shopping is fun, huh?!! We have a CR-V and LOVE IT!! It's a lot like the Rav4. Anyway... you could get a portable high chair from wal-mart. That's what we started using when we moved here b/c we couldn't bring our big one. There are 2 kinds, one's $15 and one's $20, they strap to your kitchen chairs and fold up nicely to take with you. It also takes up a lot less room in your kitchen once you don't need the big high chair. The portable ones have trays so you can have him away from the table, or when he's old enough you can not use the tray and he can be at the table with you.

Just an idea =)
